Fireworks in Naples, Maine

This year instead of going to the Esplanade (or watching from the Harvard Bridge as I often do) we were up in Maine. We went with my parents to the causeway in Naples Maine to see their fireworks show, and it was a surprisingly great experience, even for jaded city-folks like Patsy and me. What was great is that we were able to sit right along the lake shore extremely close to the fireworks barge, so we had an amazing view of everything (I never manage to see the barges in the Charles at home, so I miss out on the low stuff) – certainly not as awe-inspiring as the Boston display, but it was a ton of fun. Hope everyone had a great fourth :)

Maine Sunset

This is a few weeks old (I have been shooting a lot, but somehow getting distracted from posting, I will try my best to do better.) Before Patsy’s surgery we came up to Bandelay for a non-rainy (do such days exist?) weekend, and we caught this unbelievable sunset on the way back from the fish market.

Patsy and I are on vacation at my family’s lake-house in Maine. It’s pretty cold up here but beautiful and quiet, and we are having a wonderful time. We spent most of the day today cooking. I made dinner – a fish chowder (turned out especially well, perfect for my slightly-sore throat) and anadama bread (a little too salty maybe, we couldn’t find dad’s recipe so we improvised.) Patsy is making a blueberry pie right now…
