This toad was sitting outside the house and he didn’t seem to mind at all that I was shoving a macro lens in his face. I didn’t have enough light to get intense detail, but I am pretty happy with how the detail melts in from the defocused areas. Nice, creamy bokeh from my lens too, always nice to see :)



I love frogs. Really love ’em – Kermit especially, but real ones too. Back when I was teaching elementary-age kids, whenever they would tell me they didn’t know what to do, I would tell them “when in doubt, draw a frog.” Given the opportunity to photograph one, I’ll never turn it down. This guy was _tiny_ – he is sitting on a columbine leaf and my lens is about a centimeter from his head.
