I found a used Leica 45/2.8 macro for cheap for my Oly EP3 and I was playing around with it in the garden yesterday after work
Our passionflower plant is blooming inside (it is also trying to eat our food processor)
This toad was sitting outside the house and he didn’t seem to mind at all that I was shoving a macro lens in his face. I didn’t have enough light to get intense detail, but I am pretty happy with how the detail melts in from the defocused areas. Nice, creamy bokeh from my lens too, always nice to see
I love frogs. Really love ’em – Kermit especially, but real ones too. Back when I was teaching elementary-age kids, whenever they would tell me they didn’t know what to do, I would tell them “when in doubt, draw a frog.” Given the opportunity to photograph one, I’ll never turn it down. This guy was _tiny_ – he is sitting on a columbine leaf and my lens is about a centimeter from his head.
I’m sure this violates some sort of community standards in the world of flora, but to me it’s beautiful.
