It has taken years, but it looks like my peonies are finally starting to bloom for real. This white one was one of the first this year, hidden behind our rose of sharon. We’ve got some pink ones, both double and single, that look like they’ll bloom in the next couple of days as well.
I kinda exaggerated the hell out of the contrast in this, but I like the effect. If I were going to make a print, I would probably go back and bring out more detail in the center.
Our passionflower plant is blooming inside (it is also trying to eat our food processor)
For our holiday card this year, I made a ton of snowflakes out of pictures of flowers. This is one of my favorites.
Is that what these are? I always thought so, but I also thought that black-eyed susans were a vine, so I’m puzzled. Pretty in any case.
I love the curly little bits of pollen (or whatever they are) – kinda looks like saffron threads.
I think it probably has something to do with overcoming my childhood terror of bees but I really really enjoy taking pictures of them now. This is probably my best so far.
I’m home sick today and goofing around with Photoshop. I discovered the Pixel Bender plugin, and this amazing special effect plugin that imitates Escher’s “Droste Effect” – this strawflower spiral is my first try.
