It is without a doubt Dahlia season at the Bandes estate. These are easily 6″ in diameter, perhaps even larger.
My tomatoes might not be doing so well, but it’s a banner year for dahlias at the Bandes estate this year.
I was thrilled with the dahlia in the backyard from the other day, but this one in the front yard puts it to shame – it is so big that I can’t even fit the whole bloom in the frame!
I love dahlias, they are why I started gardening in the first place. I had a really really disappointing crop last year, so I am trying extra-hard to grow really nice ones this year. So far so good!
This was in an especially beautiful vase of flowers that some of Patsy’s fans left her at work.
I don’t know what I did wrong, but it took all season and only today did my first dahlia bloom. It’s a beauty though, so that pretty much makes up for it.
