Andrea was the model for my photo class at DeCordova this week. She’s always been one of my favorites – excellent poses, and so comfortable in front of the camera. I think my students really enjoyed the session.

Patsy already gave me her answer, do – and brought home these flowers, too!

We planted four rose bushes last year. Two didn’t make it through the snow, but the remaining two have these stunning pink blossoms, and they’ve been blooming for months now.

I’m having some trouble downloading my photos onto my dumb little travel netbook, but here are a few pretty excellent wildlife photos in the meantime. We really lucked out with the moose – there was a female drinking from a pond, and we thought that was amazing (Patsy has been saying for weeks that all she wanted from Yellowstone was to see a moose, and we were beginning to lose hope) but then a bull moose crossed the road in front of us and went over to the same pond, so we were able to get great photos of both of them. Bison, of course, were everywhere, but they are still pretty impressive, and fun to photograph.

We also saw: elk, deer, foxes, coyotes, grizzly bears (a mother and three cubs), osprey, bald eagles and pronghorn. No bighorn sheep, but there’s always next time.

We saw a ton of geysers – Old Faithful, Steamboat, and Great Fountain were the highlights. We really lucked out on the grand fountain, which only erupts twice a day.

This mama grizzly and her three cubs were out pretty far away, which is part of why they are a bit blurry. (But the ranger said we were as close as could possibly be safe, and we certainly didn’t want to argue…)

We picked up my ring from our jeweler this afternoon – I love it! The little diamonds belonged to my great great grandmother!

This guy was performing on church street the other day – I could hear him from my office!
